Māpuna Library’s Display: LOCKDOWN READING…

The latest display in our library was to share what the library staff and student librarians have been reading/had read during our August-September lockdown this year.

#LockdownReading

Thank you to Zoe for single-handedly creating this display, it looks great! Thanks also to all the librarians who contributed photos/blurbs.

The two reviews or blurbs that were shared were:

Everything Everything & Frankly in Love by Nicola Yoon & David Yoon

Review by: Kien

I really enjoyed reading these two books because they were cheesy romance stories, which are my favourite! They helped me survive during lockdown and they were useful in completing my ENS assignment.

Paper Towns by John Green

Review by: Zoe

If, like me, you have previously read The Fault in our Stars, an iconic John Green novel that has become an increasingly popular read, you will certainly enjoy this captivating, page-turning book.

Paper Towns is about neighbours, Margo, and Quentin, who were close as children and whose lives split separate ways as they matured. They reconnect when Margo approaches Quentin one evening, requesting him to be her ‘getaway car’ whilst she attempts to ‘right’ what she believes is wrong, leaving her own tag at each scene. The pair then return home from their adventure, in the early hours of the morning. That day Margo disappears, a common act, however, there is no sign of her for days and everyone begins to suspect she is not returning. Quentin, still recovering from their adventure, is convinced Margo has left behind clues in order to be discovered and sets out to find his childhood sweetheart.

This book is compelling and includes controversial discoveries throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I was eager to learn more about the clues and the whereabouts of Margo.
