Fire is beautiful – far too beautiful for her own good. She is part monster and this allows her to reach into minds, warp them, control them and use them in any way she wishes. But she doesn’t wish to. That was what her father did, not her. Fire only ever enters others’ minds if they are a danger to her, themselves or others, which is rare. 

But now her kingdom is in danger, and it needs her powers of manipulation. Can she do it? Can she enter another person’s mind and, in doing so, invade their privacy to avoid the destruction of her kingdom? Can she become the very thing she pained herself to destroy? Fire has many difficult decisions ahead of her, along with many difficult revelations. 

This is a book with a great deal of moral and ethical questioning required. There are plot twists around every corner and many unexpected revelations that leave you turning the page much sooner than you expected. I couldn’t put it down until I had finished it and even then it didn’t leave me.
