Author: Michael Grant Published: 2008
Genre: Sci-Fi/Thriller My Rating: 5/5

I enjoyed this book more than I expected, mostly because of the way the writer had betrayed the story. To be honest I just couldn’t keep my head out of the book! The book was already on my top reads list but once I’d finished I just read it over and over. However, the book can be slow to get going. I knew about this book because of the high praises it got from my friends, the book has sold over 176,000 copies all over the world.
My favourite character is the main character Sam Temple who has the mutant ability to produce light from his hands. I loved how he always came up with a solution for any problem by using his wits and courage to push on. I also admire his courage to fight back against evil. All the adults disappear, and Sam Temple takes over and does his best to keep everyone safe from danger. The story starts with the disappearance of everyone over the age of fifteen and the appearance of strange characters and powers.
I recommend you read it mostly if you are an action nut like me. Second there are lots of plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering if he and his friends survive. Lastly, even if you don’t enjoy the book it’ll be a good experience to try out a new and different author. By reading it you might find out if you’ve got something for sci-fi or not, or possibly find a new favourite author. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did you might even decide to read the rest of the series.
